Social Media - professional and ethical use as an educator

The social media workshop is designed to educate teachers about the professional and ethical use of social media tools like Facebook and Twitter. The workshop reviews the wide-ranging landscape of social media through the lens of appropriate boundaries and professional conduct. Participants will learn about the value of engaging online as an activist and educator, best practices, and appropriate privacy settings.

  • Sarah Dalzell

    Sarah Dalzell comes to you as an educator and adventurer! This is her 4th year acting as facilitator for the BCTF, with a primary focus on the Social Media Safety. Sarah has also helped to develop 2 workshops including “Classroom Management in the age of Digital media”, “Cyberbullying”, and supported the revamp of “Building Self-Awareness, Social Awareness, and Empathy”. Sarah has completed her masters in Educational leadership and Management, and recently returns to teaching after year working as a Residence Life Manager at UBC. Although Sarah facilitates social media workshops, she her happiness disconnecting from the world of technology and breathing in the mountain air!
